My inspiration comes from traditional Chinese food and the making process of making them, in specific the mould use for making egg tart. I am intrigued by in the pattern casted by the positive shape of the egg tart and the negative shape of the mold. The project was focus on exploring the relationship between positive and negative spaces.
With a bowl in mind, the elongated diamond shaped bowl informed the use of the bowl, to contain soup in which the user can hold by hugging both hands on the sides. It can be used to a whole fish or food with elongated shape and it will follow the curvature through the base of the bowl. The interior of the bowl is done with a fluting pattern following sequential progression; the depth increases from the elongated tip of the bowl towards the center, which is the deepest.
