虛擬展覽逆市融資 (EventXtra黃卓琛)

新冠肺炎疫情促使各行各業加快數碼轉型,不少企業把大型實體展覽,移至網上舉行。本地初創EventXtra現有八成業務屬於虛擬展覽,聲稱半年間營收增長300%,近日更獲日本Uzabase融資。今次請來其聯合創辦人黃卓琛,分享如何以虛擬展覽應對疫情,以及其市場策略。

朱: 疫情期間,公司半年間營收急增300%,何以有此佳績?

黃: 團隊過往曾協助多個客戶,累計舉辦5000多場活動,服務對象多達數百萬人,因此有一定實戰經驗。產品設計方面,實體活動體驗如即場交換名片、即時對話或預約會議等,團隊設計的虛擬展覽同樣做到。同時,通過直播串流(Live Streaming)、邀請明星講者等噱頭方式,協助客戶吸納新用戶。

成本效益更勝實體活動

疫情期間,公司大部分新客戶都是首次舉辦虛擬展覽,當團隊跟他們合作時,會提供個案分享,讓他們理解有關活動做法,並提供建議及教學。以菲律賓客戶為例,公司最近協助他們舉行虛擬新聞發布會,不但提供虛擬展覽方案,還指導他們如何達到宣傳效果,吸引全球媒體關注。

企業代表現時毋須乘搭飛機前往各地參展,只要按下相關連結,即能參與虛擬展覽,出差成本大減。此外,虛擬展覽不受時間或地域限制,同一場展覽,全球人士都能參與。企業甚至可通過平台,拓展更廣闊的人脈,瀏覽人數甚至比實體活動還多。

朱: 為何看好日本市場?進軍當地有何策略?

黃: 公司現聚焦亞洲市場,團隊留意到亞洲對展覽軟件需求很大;單是投放於展覽管理相關的軟件,每年約有10億美元(約78億港元)市場規模。亞洲最大市場是中國,第二就是日本,之後是印度及東南亞地區。

日本作為公司戰略發展市場之一,團隊致力建立當地客戶網絡。除了投資者支持外,公司在當地投放不少資源於數碼營銷(Digital Marketing),另夥拍日本合作夥伴,協助與當地客戶以日文溝通,建立親切的合作關係。

通過有關人脈,公司最近成功與當地最大展覽主辦方簽署價值7位數字的合約,未來將為其引入虛擬展覽方案。由認識該名日本客戶,到確認合作關係,前後僅花了一至兩個月時間。

亞洲其他地區方面,公司特意聘請中國、印度、印尼、南韓及新加坡等地員工,在亞洲任何一個市場,我們都有本地人(Native)跟當地客戶溝通,理解其切身需要。

獲日本資訊媒體公司投資

朱: 你們最近獲一筆日本資金,是如何達成交易?

黃: 現時正處於經濟寒冬,公司早於「寒冬」來臨前已做好準備,向潛在及現有投資者,定期滙報最新業務狀況。我們明白到信任並非剎那間能建立,需要時間累積。因此公司在「春、夏、秋季」已着手為尋求融資播種,到適當時候自有收成。

本輪投資者Uzabase,為日本最大的資訊媒體(Information Media)企業,亦是當地的軟件即服務(SaaS)公司。EventXtra有意進軍日本市場,對方願意提供協助,由於大家的業務發展策略契合,結果促成合作。

數碼化大趨勢不會逆轉

朱: 疫情過後,會否擔心企業轉投實體方案?作為初創,如何看待競爭對手?業務遇到的最大挑戰是什麼?

黃: 以Zoom為例,疫情期間用戶使用量一定較往常多,但不代表疫情過後,便不再使用。對我們而言,道理一樣。

團隊發現,不論展覽商或國際活動商,以往也曾考慮做虛擬展覽,惟最終打消念頭。現在遇上疫情爆發,他們試辦虛擬展覽後,發現不單成本下降,瀏覽量也大增,我們看到未來趨勢是企業將同步選用虛實活動方案。

現時公司遇到最大的瓶頸位是如何應付龐大市場需求,以我自己為例,現時每天要跟10至20名客戶開會;如何提升效率,成為個人最大挑戰。當大量客戶湧現時,公司又能否持續提供優質服務,是團隊面對的一大考驗。

不論哪一行業,只要有市場需求,就有競爭對手存在,最重要是初創需思考如何在競爭中領先。其次,公司產品或商業模式,能否讓初創享有競爭優勢,毋須以低價吸客。我認為,有好的競爭對手,會令公司走得更快。
